    Sony 10-18mm f/4 lens, great compact ultra wide lens for Sony APS-C cameras.

    This is a great small lens for Sony APS-C cameras. While it is not as small as the collapsable 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6, both are similar sizes when the camera is powered up. Starting at 10mm gives you a 15mm equivalent well into ultra-wide territory. Going to 18mm (28mm equivalent) gives you the same perspective as most of the newest mobile phones, so you're getting a very versatile lens here. The corners do get a bit soft at 10mm wide open at f/4, it's mostly ignorable and the softness goes away at f/5.6. The hood is excellent, and this lens does something you wouldn't expect at this price point--10mm actually sticks out the most, and the lens retracts as you zoom towards 18mm. This makes the hood shade more effectively shaded at 18mm, and at 10mm the lens can peer around the shallow hood. ...
