About this product

Product Information

The Hatchimal by Spin Master is an interactive electronic pet. The plastic egg contains a pink cuddly plush toy that hatches on its own out of the egg when it is cared for and shown affection appropriately. The 12 cm big stuffed animal robots are programmed differently and have slightly different characters. To make the pet hatch the 15 cm big and colorfully speckled egg has to be touched and cared for. The need for affection is shown by colored LEDs which can be seen through the eggs shell. After hatching the pet learns movement and different sounds. It communicates with the owner by producing sounds and showing its needs in the color of the LED eyes.

    Loved it!!

    This was everything it was touted to be. I was a bit nervous given some of the bad press it had gotten, but took a chance since. Gave to my niece and she was over the moon. Yes, it took about 30 minutes of play before it hatched, as some stated...but at 8 years old she was okay with that. She "nursed" it patiently, following the directions to take care of it (which we read through with her) and she carried it around with her until the first peck. Then she started screaming with excitement and thrilling watched while it "hatched" for about another 30 minutes. Each new observance was a thrill to her, the color of it's beak and (once she could see it through a little hatched area) the color of the fur. Once it was fully out of the egg, it sang it's version of happy birthday, which she got a huge kick out of. Yes, it does make some odd sounds, which I know some have stated sounds like a dirty word...to an adult with an imagination (or because they read the hype and expected it)...but she didn't notice and I thought it was a stretch to think that it was saying that. Overall I was glad I took the chance and it was well worth the price I paid. As a matter of fact, I came across a Penguala at a local store (the first one was a Burtle), and purchased that one for her for her birthday coming up!

    Love it!

    Our kids love theirs. We have a 9 yr old and a 2 yr old. Both enjoyed the hatching process and followed the instructions. No issues. Since then they have played with them every day. Teaching them new things and clapping along. The 2 yr old dances with his when it dances. It is one of the most played with toys that were under the tree this year.

    Didn't hatch on its own

    Very cute idea but we did get one dud out of 5. That one didn't turn on and begin the hatching process, so we had to assist with the "delivery" by opening up the egg and then had to replace the batteries. It works fine now but didn't get the fun of watching it hatch.
