Pretty and pretty solid set
Lego and Harry Potter, pretty much epic. That being said, many of the recent sets from Lego have been rather lacking. They get a facade, maybe a rough moment in a movie or show, and ramp up the price. The Harry Potter sets were not immune to this. However, Hodsmeade Village is a lovely exception. Not only does the set feature cheerfully decorative additions, but it fits with the olde-world theme that much of the architecture of the series promotes. Add in the holiday theme and you get a clever little set with more than just a printed nod towards what is presented. Granted, it does not have full buildings... those are the things of the 80s and 90s, but it has more than just a plywood front that other sets have become recently. Additionally, if you're one of the people who collects Harry Potter Lego (or indeed any such scenes) these scale well with a village backdrop and can easily be lit with electric tea-lights or LED strings to make nightlights, holiday decorations, or even miniature settings with only minimal effort. It's one of the better scenic pieces Lego has put out in the last decade.
