Made two years before his slightly better known DIABOLIQUE, Henri-Georges Clouzot's nail-biter of a suspense film is the story of four broke and desperate men stranded in Latin America. Eager for a way out of their respective situations, they accept an American oil company's impossibly dangerous offer to transport two truckloads of nitroglycerin across hazardous jungle terrain. Remade by William Friedkin as SORCERER in 1977.

    I love this movie

    Very interesting movie dealing with the human psyche when confronted with a potentially deadly situation. Character development is awesome! Is this the beginning of Mario and Luigi in the Mario bros franchise? Check out Luigi's clothing selection! Watched this movie lastly around 1985. Impactful movie, where triumphs and tragedies morph together through the dark cloud of uncertainty! Quality of the dvd was great, and I would highly recommend the "wages of fear" to even the younger populace. Dvd- excellent!
