heating cable
Since this is a Pipe heating cable ( for winter ) and it is July, I can not say anything about it's use until colder weather, about October or November,,,Previous experience with these items should be ok, as long as it works, and that again will not be known until cold sets in..

These work great. Automatic built in thermostat.
These are great addition to hoses pipes etc. I use on my RV water hose to keep it from freezing. The black spot tab has to be against the pipe or hose for it to work as that is the automatic built in thermostat. I'm assuming other negative review didn't account for that as if you just plug it in it wont heat up the cord if it doesn't need to hence the built in thermostat.

Bare wire on 2 devices, one melted. faulty or returned items
2 of the devices had bare and melted wiring. Others seemed to be returned. Based on seeing this I am not using any device that could cause a fire hazard.
