  • Film noir with several greats worth seeing more than once

Classic film noir, with a script by one of the best writers if not the very best in the genre, Raymond Chandler, and a first-rate cast including one of the best mid-century character actors, William Bendix, and two of the most compelling leads, Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake, two beautiful actors who shone in the 1940s, especially, and died way too soon at 51.

  • SCREEN TEAM: VERONICA LAKE/ALAN LADD

VERONICA LAKE & ALAN LADD make a perfect noir screen team in this murder mystery. They play well off each other! VERONICA LAKE was one of the top screen glamour queens of the 1940's and she proves it in this film. ALAN LADD plays the nice tough guy which was his forte in films. All the 1940's FILM NOIRS are my favorites of the classic movies.
