A thumping volume that's easy to read
Well researched and clearly presented this is a history that is normally told from the 'Glorious Revolution' of William and Mary, rather than the deposed Stuart monarch's view. To be fair, I don't think I'd have picked either of them, but this is a period when the United Kingdom was consolidated and so deserves to be better understood and this is a good step along that road. And now we have devolution being talked about, it might be timely to reflect on how we got to where we are now...
