It is very useful for spot messes from pets, spills, etc. on carpeted and uncarpeted stairs. Because its solution tank is so small it requires several refillings if you want to do an entire 11-step staircase. For what I need, small pet accidents, this is a good product. I wish the suction was a little better but I did pre-treat and then used the machine. FINALLY something that WORKS!!!!!
I just got a new puppy and needed something that can spot clean without having to plug something in. Bissell Pet Stain Carpet Cleaner does a great job cleaning small carpet spots like pet urine and coffee stains. The suction is decent compared to a regular vacuum. It's not as powerful, but the convenience factor outweighs the suction. It's light enough to use quickly, and emptying and refilling is a breeze :-) ONE BIG downside, not enough to downgrade a star, is you can't keep a reservoir of solution in the vacuum because it will leak out :-( I don't understand why, but you mustn't keep it on its side or lying down. You have to balance it standing vertically. I now store it without the solution pushed in. Overall, it's quick, convenient, and does a remarkable job cleaning and drying small areas in the home. These are nice pet stain carpet cleaners. There are newer models after this one. Saves a lot of time from full Bissell carpet cleaning. Love it. I use water and spray the stain after pretreatment with oxyclean spray bottle. Have’t tried the portable steam cleaner but I use steam mp x5, esp if you have stains left after carpet cleaning, steam kills the germs. Spot shot is a good product, too.
