About this product

Product Information

Spanning four generations and two very different cultures, it sweeps from the glittering palaces of the great maharajas of India to the majestic stately homes of England, following the extraordinary life of a girl, Anahita Chaval, from 1911 to the present day . . . In the heyday of the British Raj, eleven-year-old Anahita, from a noble but impoverished family, forms a lifelong friendship with the headstrong Princess Indira, the privileged daughter of rich Indian royalty. Becoming the princess's official companion, Anahita accompanies her friend to England just before the outbreak of the Great War. There, she meets the young Donald Astbury - reluctant heir to the magnificent, remote Astbury Estate - and his scheming mother. Eighty years later, Rebecca Bradley, a young American film star, has the world at her feet. But when her turbulent relationship with her equally famous boyfriend takes an unexpected turn, she's relieved that her latest role, playing a 1920s debutante, will take her away from the glare of publicity to the wilds of Dartmoor in England. Shortly after filming begins at the now-crumbling Astbury Hall, Ari Malik, Anahita's great-grandson, arrives unexpectedly, on a quest for his family's past. What he and Rebecca discover begins to unravel the dark secrets that haunt the Astbury dynasty . . .

This is my second time buying from this seller and I would definitely place another order in the future. This time I ordered three books and everything went well. The books arrived in great condition, matching the description. As always they are very carefully wrapped. The prices are great and the communication is always very kind and clear.. responses very quickly. Highly recommend this seller.

This book arrived in good condition and as described and good was good value as were the other books I ordered. Unfortunately the packaging didn't survive Royal Mails handling and this was the only book I received of five I had ordered. I contacted WeBuyBooks and they have been brilliant in trying to resolve the issue of the missing books. They are replacing one that they still have in stock though unfortunately are unable to do so for the other three so are issuing a refund for these.

The book was very well packaged and dispatched and delivered very quickly in just a couple of days. Excellent communication throughout with the seller. Very friendly, helpful and prompt response. I have bought from this seller a few times and everything has always met or exceeded my expectations.

    Compelling Read

Absolutely loved this book. I've read two other Lucinda Riley novels and feel you can't go wrong with this author as each one has been a compelling read and totally different subjects. This one moves between India and England with unforeseeable twists and turns which makes it hard to end one chapter without starting the next! At 600+ pages it has the expanse to develop the complex storyline spanning from just before the first world war to present date. Read and enjoy.

  • Top critical review

I really am not sure why this book is called The Midnight Rose.......rather confusing.

This is one of L.Riley's earlier books.I found it interesting and enjoyable but slightly confusing with the characters. I much prefer her more recent books. She is a good writer.

  • Midnight rose

Yet another fantastic book from this amazing author. Absolutely compelling and gripping novel from Lucinda Riley. She's got to be the cleverest I've ever read and can bring the imagination alive every time with twists and turns, swapping from one era to another and then bringing it all together at the end. Fantastic.
