Great printer, just a few minor issues...

The other reviews are correct in saying it's bigger than most printers. It is wider, but I guess it has to be to print on larger size sheets. Adding to the size, you have to keep the rear paper tray and front output tray open all the time. The product photos make it looks so compact, but I always have both trays open, since the blank paper always sits in the rear tray, and the output tray has to stay open or nothing prints. It doesn't just pop open when it gets a print command. I was pleasantly surprised when I first printed a photo from my iPhone - it prints ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGES on a letter-sized (8.5x10) sheet of paper. I'm a graphic designer, so that's a big deal for me, when I design things to the margins and would usually have to trim the sides. Still, this is a great wireless ...

      Nice Printer Though Fails Often

Pro: Fast document and photo printing, large prints, tight DPI when needed, 5-color ink system, Feed Through Paper tray which reduces clogs for heavier weight photo paper, multiple methods of connectivity. CONS: This is my fourth printer from the iX printer series. Everyone of them has failed during the warranty period. Canon immediately replaced them with an overnight shipment. Canon says they are made for durability for a marketing workload environment though, my experience, they have failed repeatedly within the warranty period though Canon has shipped overnight a refurbished model which then fails within 6 months after the warranty period expires. You can assume a 4-18 month life span for this printer. I continue to purchase because of the price point and I can get really great ...

    • Comes from a great family

It is a replacement for Canon's similar ink jet photo quality printer that I had which died after 7 years of service when that printer head crapped out. My only issue is that this printer has 13x19 print capability but I don't know how to make my apps select that odd size.

This is the second iX6820 printers I have purchased. The first one just quit after 2 years. I believe the print head was the problem but a new head runs about $65 so for $130 I bought a new printer. The price is great. It plots up to 19"x13" which is why I purchased it. It works fine for a backup letter size printer. It is slow to wake up for printing. It sounds like a thrashing machine during operation. The wireless feature quit working after about 1 year. I also have a MX870 Canon all-in-one machine that is about 5 years old. It has been a good machine and I feel the support has been pretty good also. I have had a lot of HP printers/plotters and would probably lean toward the Canon products at this point in time.

    • Network headaches

This is not my first time at the rodeo: I know that printers are usually difficult to set up wirelessly. Still this printer presented so many "challenges" that I began to think that it was a hardware problem. I began by jumping in at the deep end and following the instructions without WPS. Then I tried WPS. Backing up, the network details said that it could not find a DHCP server even though there was one in my router. I'm going to skip over the rest of my sad attempts, but the bottom line was first I set it up using USB, then LAN wired (with a static IP set both on the printer and the same address reserved on the router using the printer's MAC address) and then the wireless drivers installed. I did this with the USB cable attached and using that option in the DRV setup. Wow. I was so ...
