    I Claudious - I like

    The 1st thing we need to say is that the show was produced to be 13 episodes, but BBC aired it as 12. This means the 1st 2 were cut & made into one episode. Other DVD versions followed the 12 episode format, as does this one. However, this set give you the option of watching as either 12 or 13 episodes. Thus the episodes are not really extended, rather restored to original production, but I give them points for giving both options. (Ironically, when you watch the 2nd & the 3rd episode, because if this, they will both say part 2.) The set also has some featurettes. I wish these features were more spread out over the DVDs, but again points for doing it at all. The artwork is nice, though all the discs have the same picture as the cover. This is a great DVD version of a good show. I am glad I waited, after hearing another version deleted scenes for time allowed on the discs.

    Derek Jacobi is amazing in this.

    I watched this series when it was on TV years ago. Never forgot it. Can't wait to watch it again. Now I watch anything featuring Derek Jacobi. He is magnificent in this.

    Love this series

    I watched the original series when it was on in the seventies and loved it. I was almost put off by the description warning the there might be audio or video problems. I'm glad I didn't listen! I think they did a wonderful job of remastering this production. It's wonderful to watch it full screen. The acting can't be beat. Derek Jacobi was fantastic as Claudius. It's a wonderful production and I'm so happy to own it. I'd give it more stars if I could.

    History and Future for dummies

    Rated one of the top TV series, ever, it is a must have, for those who wish to have REAL history brought alive. Very entertaining, brutal in it's frankness, and eye-opening. Gives great credence to the axiom, "history repeats itself"

    Great story played by great actors.

    This BBC series was made in 1976 and is a classic, first rate show. Derek Jacobi, Sian Phillips, Brian Blessed and John Hurt and Patrick Stewart, to name just a few, made this a timeless masterpiece under the direction of Herbert Wise.

    A Must-Watch For Ancient Roman History Buffs

    This BBC production is a faithful adaptation of the Robert Graves novel. The casting could hardly have been better, and at no place in the twelve episodes does the pace of the story lag. What's more, the bonus features are -- by themselves -- worth watching from the standpoints of information and entertainment.

    Romes first family

    I, Claudius is my favorite mini series of all time. If you follow politics and history this BBC classic is a must. Its a great objective lesson on our politics as well since much of the corruption you see in the past is playing out (albeit with less violence and sex) in our time.
