    Motel Hell DVD

This double feature DVD of Motel Hell (along with Deranged) is the cheapest and easiest way to own this hard to find cult classic. Very happy to finally have this for my collection.

  • Top critical review

    Totally disappointed by Motel Hell

This movie made promises it did not deliver. The "killers" in this movie use chloroform on their victims, then bury them up to their necks in the garden with cut vocal cords and a bag over their heads. It is the horror movie equivalent to shooting fish in a barrel. There wasn't even one good kill in the entire movie. The only remotely scary thing about it is that so many people seem to think it's a great film.

  • Ed Gein Interpretation

Probably one of the best depictions of the story of Ed Gein, despite being a low budget B movie. Not everything is accurately portrayed, but is fairly close. Nice touches of dark humour in the bar scene and newspaper/dinner table scene. Overall, makes it easier to imagine what life must have been like for Ed, secluded alone,in that cold dark farmhouse, with only rotting corpes for companionship.

  • Wild and Wacky

I had seen Motel Hell when it came out in 1980 and only a few minutes of it when it was shown on TCM last year. The critics hated it but I thought it was quite scary/funny. Finding it on DVD at ebay was a pleasant surprise. Getting Deranged on the same disc was a bonus.
