Instruction only for set up - no instructions for other details, e.g. FAQs

I am still in the beginner stage to use this device. I have watched DVDs and BlueRays, the image(s) are super excellent. Saturday I played two BlueRays, all the instructions were in French. It's no big deal for me since I know this language, but still English would be more comfortable, I haven't taken the time to find out how to refigurate it into English. H P.S. I should not rate it, since I have nothing to compare. I am sure it is good, since it was recommended to me by a friend.

Poor WiFi reception with this unit

I have an older (~ 7 years old) Sony Blu-ray player with surround sound that has been having issues getting Wi Fi for Netflix, Amazon, etc. and would not play Blu ray discs without freezing up. I thought that the simple solution would be just to get and add-on blu ray player. This unit is supposedly WiFi capable so I thought it might solve the two problems I was having with the older unit. It turns out that it has the same problems receiving Wi-Fi as the old unit. That is, it says that the internet is not ready or give me other "errors". I might think that it is a problem with my router but when I switch to my "ROKU" which is sitting next to the new blu ray player, the ROKU works flawlessly.

  • Sony BDP-3500 Blu-ray DVD player

Small and compact, it fits the bill for me. It's easy enough for anyone in the family to use without instructions. Great picture.

  • My 3rd bluray player, 3rd one's the charm

I bought this for my mother in law for christmas , and was so impressed with it, that I bought one for myself a couple months later. I've had 2 other blu ray players, and this one kicks them to the curb in everyway, except that my last one did do 3D (not that I ever used that feature) and this model is just the 2D version. Probably the best thing about this one IMO is that it turns on INSTANTLY, the first bluray player I had took about 2 min. to turn on, my last one was faster but still took a good 15 seconds to get going, but this one is ready as soon as I hit the button. It has a ton of apps that you can use, and to be honest, a lot of them are garbage apps no one will use but boost the "number of apps available" to like 300 I think it says, but it's nice to have options, and there's some I do use. My other player only had Netflix, Hulu, vudu, and like 2 others, so at least this one has options. The wifi works very well, things load much quicker on this player than my other ones even though my internet is the same. And I love that I can effortlessly mirror my phones screen on my tv through this bluray player, it's even easier to cast my phone screen to this than to my chromecast, you don't even need an additional app, if your phone can screen mirror you should be good to go ( I have a samsung galaxy s4 active btw) This is equipped with Playstation Now, so you could play some playstation 3 games on your tv through your blu ray player, but I don't have a Playstation controller nor have I ever signed up for playstation online gaming (which requires a subscription I believe) so I haven't tried that out yet, but it would be cool. Too bad everything I have is for xbox 360. The setup is user friendly, quick, and easy. No problems there with anything, and I do like the usb port in the front, I have a hard drive plugged in with a bunch of movies on it, and they play without any kind of problems. I am not sure which video formats it supports entirely, all of mine were either mp4 or AVI, because that's pretty much all my old Toshiba player would support, so I know that this Sony one at least works with those, not sure about MKV or anything else. The unit itself is about half the size of my other bluray players, so it doesn't take up nearly as much shelf room, plus it looks sleek (which most of them do anyway), so that's nice. About the only negative I see about this blu ray player is that the remote is about half the size of most remote controls, so it is easier to lose, and it doesn't have a keyboard on it to quickly type in a movie to search for on Netflix or what have you (which most remotes don't have either, so it's not specifically a knock against this one, just more against all manufacturers nowadays. Why not just include that with the standard remote since almost everyone is watching, and searching for videos to play?). If this was too long to read then hopefully you just skipped to this part where I say it is a great blu ray player with plenty of features, highly recommend it. Probably the most bang for your buck.

  • Easiest player to set up

I found this player to be very easy to set up. Clear directions. the image is good. The player is small enough to set it just about anywhere. The only issue I found was the on/off controls on the player itself are very easy to break. Handle gently or always use the remote control.

  • Best Line Blu-ray DVD players media box

I have owned several DVD players and even Blu-ray players and I have to say these are really great. They are very easy to hook up they're easy navigation hub and I made use of the USB slot on the side of the media box regularly. I actually prefer the menu hub on this Sony over my brand new Samsung Smart TV hub. For some reason Netflix displays different on this and I like it because it's most helpful this way. I like the compact size because two weeks when I had to move Hotel because of a plumbing break, I took my box with me, hooked it up to the hotel TV..voila I had my Amazon and Netflix. The price is pretty great too.

  • Hard to beat this

I tired to pair a LG TV and LG DVD player. The LG DVD player had freezing issues on Netflix. I went through 2 of them (DOA out of the box). From what I read, this is a common issue with the LGs. Then I bought this gem. Much faster responsiveness, better controls, streams flawless. Despite having to use 2 controllers now pairing this with a LG TV, it's worth it. High quality and works great.

  • Great Bluray Player

My online research lead to a consensus thst this was the best bluray player and I agree. It's small square form factor take up little space and you can place things on top. The menu system is easy to use. The usb port conveniently located in the front can play ripped mkv movies. Upscales dvds nicely and plays blurays of course.

  • Used but perfect Sony BDP-S3500 Blu-Ray Disc / DVD Player with Wi

Small and compact, but loaded with capabilities. In particular, I like the slide show feature that lets you view your own photos in jpg format sequentially and can wrap it around again all digitally. So this, plus Blu Ray and DVD player is perfect.

  • Love this DVD/Blu Ray Player

I have four of this model. I love that I can have Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, or any other online products that I am subscribed to, with or without cable, on my smart TV. This is easy to use and my favorite part is the remote. It is small and easy to use. I have never had any issues with either of mine. I have never used bluray but the DVD works great.
