Les Miserables Redux
First there was Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, then came Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, and now we have Albert S. Ruddy's Lassiter. With all the charm Cary Grant brought to the character John Robie, Tom Selleck brings his own roguish charm and wit to the character and adventure of Lassiter. Equal to the task is Jane Seymour as Lassiter's brassy, sassy and equally mischievous girl friend. Set in pre-WWII London, Lassiter is a cat burglar, preying on high society's jewelry. Bob Hoskins brings an ominousness to his Scotland Yard character that would make Charles Laughton's Javert cringe in H's pursuit of Lassiter. Germany is acquiring a large cache of diamonds to finance its pre-war machinations. Those diamonds are being routed though Germany's London embassy by the lascivious Lauren Hutton. The FBI and Scotland Yard set Lassiter to the task of looting the diamonds, while Hoskins seeks to jail Lassiter for being a thief. How these four seek to wit and outwit each other makes for an edgy and earthy entertainment. Nail biting allowed. Can Lassiter get the diamonds and escape Hutton and the Germans and the relentless Hoskins? Tune in...

The reviews are right, this is a good one! There is just something "good" about the movies that Tom Selleck makes. My favorite of all time is "HIGH ROAD TO CHINA" Searched for years to find it in DVD! never get tired of his acting just very enjoyable movies! and This is my latest added to my "re-watch pile!"
