12/27/'08: LIKE: Most any Vachss novel. Why "most"? because sometimes..he departs via/within his novel.. into legal issues, designed to educate his readers (the public) about the dangerous predators "out there." But when he sticks to straight dramatic writing . "boy" can he explode w/the dramatic. DISLIKE: As to "Safe House"? Great last 1/2 or 1/3. First 1/2 or 2/3'rds were (as best recall) frustrating..in the back-&-forth-getting-nowhere so it seemed) conversation & relationship 'tween Burke ("P.I.") & those within "the safe house." Given my having read approx. eight+- thus far, in order of pub., & not including hia "Batman" novel.. it's "Blue Belle," by Andrew Vachss! IN SUM: "Safe House" is worth reading. Vachss is an amazing educatior Sincerely, - Richard ( c/o dandelionsforever@nyc.rr.com ) ***** *****Read full review
