The one I own is actually my second, I returned my first one due to light scratches that were distracting when glowlight is on. That being said, THE SCREEN IS VERY FRAGILE! If you're only using the simple touch with glowlight without the glowlight option (in which case you should buy the cheaper simple touch only option...) it's not a big deal, but if there is even a tiny scratch on your screen, turning on even the lowest screen brightness on glowlight will make it extremely illuminated and distracting. For this reason, I have purchased a good case from barnes and nobles in addition to a screen protector from amazon for the nook. Everything else is fantastic. This is my first e-book experience, and the touch screen is much more receptive than I believed it'd be and there are so many options including page font, font size, margin size. The epub compatibility is amazing and I have found many ebooks for free online. You can also customize the wallpaper that shows when your nook is resting. I chose this over the kindle paperwhite because of the epub compatibility and the page flipping buttons. For around $50 used on ebay, the nst with glowlight is an amazing e-reader!Read full review

Unfortunately this came with some sort of scratch in the middle of the e-reader screen which is glaring bright. It's only about 1/2 inch long. But annoying. I bought this as a second Nook for my husband... in addition to the one I have. So, it's not our primary Nook. Everything else on the Nook , wifi, etc works fine.

I love the eInk screen, saving myself from the annoying light of a backlit screen. One of the features I truly enjoy about the Nook simple touch is the ability to turn using the soft buttons (which naturally fall at your holding position). This allows me to sit at whatever angle and read uninterrupted by a finger swipe or a page turn. As the device allows me to carry many books with me without the added weight or bulk, I devour entire series with this device or always have the flexibility to change to whatever I feel like. I see no issue with this device and would buy it again.

I bought this as a present for a loved one's birthday. It arrived a few days late, since there were some aggravating complications which resulted in the shipping method being downgraded from USPS Express Int'l to First-Class. Anyhow, complaints aside - let's dig into the actual product. After reading a multitude of other reviews on eBook readers, I decided to purchase the Nook - and I am not in the least disappointed! It is the first eReader in the industry to have the Glowlight feature - something that has not yet been put to an extensive test, but is still a nifty feature to have if you do a lot of nighttime reading and want to save on electricity bills. The response time and page-turning time are all very good, significantly better than my Sony PRS-T1 (which is admittedly older, but for comparison's sake please allow this). Although the range of eBook support is behind the competition, I personally believe that the PDF and ePUB format is all one could ask for - for the tech-savvy that don't buy this you can always consider rooting the device and thus unleash a wider range of format support. Furthermore, I like how the screen has an in-built anti-glare layer (which would have saved me some bad applying on my PRS-T1) and the way the text looks. As for the design - the Nook's design is pleasing to the eye and comfortable to hold and read for long periods of time; compared to the PRS-T1, however, I think the Nook falls back in terms of appearance and "style". Overall, I believe the Nook was worth every cent and is an outstanding eReader - affordable, efficient and easy to use! I highly recommend this!Read full review
I vowed to never buy a Kindle again because they cost so much money and do not replace the batteries in them anymore. And yes I even bought the kits to try replacing them myself and it is too complicated for the Kindle Fire Touchscreen. After doing much research on e readers I decided to try the Barnes and Nobel Nook with GloLight and I am very pleased with the results. You can read it both in the daylight and at night when using the GloLight feature. I was able to convert all my Kindle books to the new Nook by using one of the many free online converters. Plus I was able to find an affordable book type cover to protect my Nook at an affordable price.
