When I first put this album on I was surprised how different this sounds to Amy's previous release False Smiles, it has an extrememly dark and edgy sound to it. I was a little unsure if this style would suite Amy but wow not only does it suite her she takes it to a new level. I will admit I do like the rockier tracks off False Smiles, Misfit and Ladder In My Tights(not realising you're singing along to this whilst on the bus does bring strange looks when you're a heavily tattooed 46 year old man)but this kind of song does not belong on My Paper Made Men and I believe that the weakest track on the album is Nice Boys, in fact I would go as far as saying that Nice Boys is the only weak song on this album. Highlights for me are Furniture, Chasing The Light and The Lucky Ones. I wish this album was more readily available so it could reach a wider audience just so they could share my experience of listening to Amy's beautiful and emotion driven lyrics soaring from her powerfully haunting vocal style. I am so looking forward to album number 3 from the phenomenally talented woman that is Amy Studt and I do wish that she will finally get the recognition she deserves, the music industry does not need numerous cheesy girl groups churning out throw away bubblegum rubbish it NEEDS Amy StudtRead full review
