About this product

Product Information

Space scientist Dr. Russell Marvin (Hugh Marlowe) and his wife Carol (Joan Taylor) are working on a secret missile project, but every time their rockets are launched, they are intercepted and destroyed by the more advanced technology of mysterious flying saucers hovering near the Earth. The alien race has completely surrounded the planet, giving Earth the sixty days to surrender. The enemy spacecraft appear indestructible, and Marvin sets out to find a weapon that can defeat them. The special effects of stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen are legendary, most notably in the scene in which flying saucers attack the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

  • Our Alien Overlords Are Here!!

This movie is "the bomb" for anyone into classic 50's Sci-Fi flicks. If you love saucers, this movie delivers!! These saucersre perfect too, with a lot of screentime. They are everywhere!! What's even better is they are not too high tech or too plain as the one in Day the Earth Sood Still. Many people like the J2 or C57D from Forbidden Planet, but in our humble opinion, these saucers blow them away. What's even better is the stop motion & sound they mke when flying-Awesome! The plot moves along well enough to keep your interest too with our only real beef being that the aliens give arth 50 something days warning in advance of the attack (naturally enough time to prepare a new super weapon & repel the invaders.) Also, the aliens allow their technology to slip into the humans hands much too ...

  • Everything you want from a ‘50’s sci fi classic

As far as campy sci fi classics this is my favorite by far. Numerous classic and traditional scene and directing features. Good plot, not over the top, great strong characters. Love it. My favorite.

  • GREAT SCI-FI MOVIE

I can remember this movie from way back. As a avid movie goer then - I can remember thinking if this could ever happen - we wold all be in trouble. Ha Ha. It was a great entertainment aspect of our lives back then. All my friends and I enjoyed all the Sci-Fi flicks then. Naturally the special effects then were in there infant stages and cannot compeat with all or computer/digital ones now. If you can - see it and compare.

  • 1950's SciFi memories

At the dawn of the modern SciFi age movies like this awakened a whole generation of kids to the wonders of Science Fiction as well as the wonders of the universe. As I watched this again I remember all the joys and fears that movies of this type brought to my generation. Although compaired to todays special effects this movie cannot keep up, it still reminds everyone that it's our ability to learn as well as our humanity that will lead us into the 22nd Century and beyond.

  • Awesome

    Great movie played well
