Kala flatwound u bass strings
Fantastic .. switched out the la bella' strings that came as fitted on my Kala Journeyman UBass for the Kala Flatwounds, well worth the expense, super smooth playability and tone, highly recommended no more zzzz noise when sliding.. I did have to open out the nut slot( small round diamond file needed) on the low E and the D to get these slightly wider gauge strings to sit correctly... but really no problem..the intonation is bang on and all the harmonics are true.. pure joy to play... Only downside was being ripped off (agian) by GB customs import duty... Poor quality control
These strings need better quality control, took me buying 3 sets to actually get an E string to fit my earlier made model of the U-bass. E string was different sizes each time and didn't fit twice! Do not buy these strings if you have the original two U-Bass models (Rumbler & Spruce) unless you want to spend $150 or more to get one set that'll work on your bass.

Quality control
This is my second purchase, the strings play and feel great. My complaint is the quality of the strings. My first purchase was in November of 2020 and the low E string broke at the tuning peg last month. I don’t play aggressively. Kala company info says these strings work on my Journeyman U Bass, however, the silk wrap does not go down far enough to keep the bare string from wrapping around the peg and that is where the string broke. $50 a pop for one string is a bit high. If it breaks again in a similar way I’ll be forced to go back to the round wounds. This is my second purchase, the strings play and feel great. My complaint is the quality of the strings. Take your Kala UBass to the next level
These strings are a game changer!!! I loved the tone of the rubber strings that came on it but I hated the feel of them. I found some of these strings, but in round wound and tried them. It was better but they were really noisy when I would slide. Then I discovered these flat wounds. They make it sound and feel just right. Go ahead and click the buy button. You won’t regret it.

Will change intonation - UPDATE ! - UPDATE !
Will change intonation- cant use- will try on my other ubass in a couple weeks. Too far out of tune on this ubass- otherwise, these are beautiful! Update - i also put these on my KALA Ubass that was out of tune with the rubber strings, and again these changed the intonation , however, it actually changed it for the better! happy camper - rubber strings are virtually useless, but these are awesome! UPDATE - will change intonation - threw off the intonation of the bass I was playing, however, it IMPROVED the intonation of the UBASS I couldnt play because it had Bad intonation! Just be aware - otherwise the strings are awesome, compared to rubber strings .......... rubber strings are basicly worthless !Will change intonation- cant use- will try on my other ubass in a couple weeks.
