The capacitors tend to go bad on this radio.
Not to good on sound quality, very complicated to use if you want to use all the features. Will eat the batteries in a week if you use the search function. Can pull in very weak stations. Very good on dx. My number 1 complaint is that the capacitors go bad in a few years, and if they leak and cause damage it's expensive to fix, and sometimes they can't be fixed. Plus it's hard to find someone that will be willing to try and fix. My number 2 complaint is that the activity in SW in going down, and it's a shame to spend a lot on a sw radio if there isn't much to listen to, at least in the US. Maybe in europe it's better. Sony most sophisticated portable
Reception in BCL, Han and FM are quite good. Synch detector really works. Sound quality is mediocre due to its smaller size as compared to 2010/2001D., but great on headphone. Wide filter is more like a medium filter as compared to the 10kz wide filter on 2010. Overall, a great radio to own and even to look at.
