    Quiet performance

    I got this variable speed drive to periodically sync mission critical data to and it functions very well in that capacity, while keeping heat generation and energy use in check. Performance is comparable to other drives I have, operating at 7200rpm, but falls behind the 10k and 15k rpm drives. See hdparm results (HP XW9400 systems), below: subject: 5400/7200 rpm, SATA, WDC WD5000AZRX Timing cached reads: 1460 MB in 2.00 seconds = 730.08 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 272 MB in 3.02 seconds = 90.12 MB/sec comp1: 7200 rpm, SATA, Seagate ST3160815AS Timing cached reads: 1406 MB in 2.00 seconds = 703.02 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 220 MB in 3.01 seconds = 73.01 MB/sec comp2: 7200 rpm, SATA, WDC WD5000YS-01MPB1 Timing cached reads: 1238 MB in 2.00 seconds = 618.69 ...

    Always great quality that's reliable and easy to use.

    Works really well ... used a 6Gb/s cord with it and installed a new copy of Windows 9 on my power machine ... love it ..

    Excellent reliable, easy to set up and use product.

    I have dealt with several hard drive manufacturers over the years. I consider Western Digital one of the most reliable and long lasting drives on the market. I have had no problems with their products and can highly recommend them.
