About this product

Product Information

Turning Green Wood is the latest edition of this best-selling title. In this inspiring and thought-provoking guide, Michael O' Donnell, one of the foremost exponents of the technique, explains how to harvest and store timber, and how to make the best use of the grain pattern and other properties. Turning green wood can be made so delicate that it is actually translucent, and the thickness of the wood can be gauged by shining a light through it as you work. Using clear text and spectacular photographs to show exactly how this is done, this book demystifies one of the most admired techniques used by woodturners today. It also features six inspirational projects to make, including: cross-grain translucent bowl, cross-grain natural-edge bowl, end-grain bowl, natural-edge end-grain bowl, natural-edge end-grain goblet and part-turned bowl.

The book ordered was sent in a timely fashion and packaged with care. It was backed with cardboard to help prevent damage during shipping. The book it's self is in excellent condition and exceeds expectations. All of this is worthy of a good review but the best part of dealing with tideland books is their business integrity. They honored a price that was a typo (to my benefit) without hesitation. I will be buying from them in the future.

  • A "MUST HAVE" Book for Green Wood Turners

This is a "must have" book, IMO, for turners who use or want to use green wood. The author does an excellent job covering just about everything from A to Z, soup to nuts. He walks the reader through the steps from the felling a tree, the selection of portions of wood for blanks to the various ways of turning the blanks and finishing up the turning. The illustrations are well done so that even my 10 year old grandson can read and follow them - but then I have to admit that he's a wee bit above average ;-) Hats off to an excellent author.

  • Wonderful book.

This book was purchased because I'm a beginning wood turner and the book was recommended by another woodworker as a great start on knowledge of what to expect from different parts of the tree. I find this book to be very useful, well organized and easy to understand. The images provided and examples of finished product make this book excellent for any level wood turner.

  • TURNING GREEN WOOD

This is a great book for wood turning. My husband just retired and this is his new past time. The book is very easy to read and has alot of hints and information. I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Turning Green Wood

Great book. In depth coverage on turning green wood, from selecting the wood, cutting blanks, drying charectoristics, to turning technics. Protographs annd illustrations are high quality and informative. Wth the high cost of wood, this book pays for itself in maximizing the amount of usable wood you are paying for.
