About this product

Product Information

Director John Carpenter creates an old-fashioned campfire ghost story with THE FOG. Antonio Bay, a quaint, small seaside town is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding. That night a heavy, mysterious fog rolls through the town and people begin to die in savage ways. Rumors of a secret as old as the town begin to surface and the people of Antonio Bay realize they are victims of long dead sailors who have come to revenge their own murders at the hands of the town's founding fathers. The townspeople can only wait for the fog to roll in and pray that they are not the next to die...Carpenter creates a chilling film with THE FOG and gets fine performances out of Adrienne Barbeau, Hal Holbrook, and the fog itself, which creeps and crawls around as if it were alive. The film elicits its scares out of what is not seen rather than what is, and Carpenter exploits that style perfectly. Vague shapes move within the fog, while strange noises heard in the distance grow louder, and no one can say exactly what they are up against. THE FOG is one of Carpenter's earlier films and helped to establish his reputation as a master filmmaker.

    • Awesome movie.

One of the best movies in the horror genre ever. The Fog has a stellar cast of actors who bring it to life, great directing, and special effects of that era. The dvd was in great shape.

    • The Fog

In 1871 the founding fathers of Antonio Island, Oregon, committed a ghastly crime on the passengers of a clipper ship seeking refuge. When the skeletons and cargo of this ship are disturbed by the anchor of a charter boat captained by Tom Welling (Nick Castle) and his first mate Spooner (DeRay Davis), a fog carrying the spectres of the murdered passengers rolls in on Antonio Island. Joining Tom in the attempt to stay alive long enough to discover the secret of the curse are his recently returned girlfriend Elizabeth (Maggie Grace), local radio announcer Stevie (Selma Blair) and Stevie's young son Andy (Cole Heppell). It seems the fog will not lift until the descendants of the wrongdoers have paid for the sins of the past.

    • I Still Have Goosebumps

And will for a long time to come..This movie scared the hell out of me when I first saw it as a little Girl and now as a grown woman I still have nightmares, unfortunately for me I love this great film it stars one of my fav male actors...Hal Holbrook..Mr Holbrook is fantastic as Father Malone..Film starts out scary with a eerie ghost story told by a old fisherman played by John Houseman another brilliant actor..in the beginning we find out about a ship known as the Elizabeth Dane that was led to its doom by a campfire..believing they were being led to shore by the friendly locals they instead crashed on the rocks and went down..according to legend the ghosts of the ill fated passengers return with the fog to exact their revenge..the film makers did a great job setting up this classic ...

    • Classic 1970's John Carpenter Horror Movie!

The Fog (1979) is set in Antonio Bay, a small seaside fishing town which is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary. As the anniversary date approaches townspeople start dying in gruesome ways. Secrets about the town are learned and revealed by the town's priest, played by Hal Holbrook. The town's founders apparently lured a clipper ship, filled with lepers, to their doom so that the town could recover their gold. Now, on the 100th anniversary of the shipwreck, a mysterious fog covers the town and with it comes the crew of the clipper ship to wreak their revenge upon Antonio Bay. The movie is directed by John Carpenter while he was in his movie making prime. He creates what is basically an old-fashioned ghost story complete with an introduction by Academy Award Winner ...
