About this product

Product Information

This action-oriented RPG allows players to design a custom character who will adventure though a realm of classic medieval fantasy. The game features an unusual perspective, close behind the player's character, which allows for a "WASD" first-person-style control scheme, but with a third-person range of view. Character creation options include a variety of race and classes, and the game world spans majestic mountains, murky swamps, bustling villages, deep forests, arctic wastelands, foreboding dungeons, and more. A number of NPCs are featured, to give quests, barter for items, cause trouble, and hint at hidden secrets. The game can be played solo, or heroes can join through an Internet connection to adventure together. Dungeon Lords was written by D.W. Bradley, who is known for programming and design work on earlier computer RPGs such as Wizards & Warriors, Might and Magic: World of Xeen, Wizardry: Bane of the Cosmic Forge, and Wizardry V.

Packaged in a commemorative tin case and released about nine months after the original, the "Collector's Edition" of Dungeon Lords, and features several minor gameplay improvements and enhancements based on player feedback, as well as a number of new quests, spells, and monsters.

  • Dungeon Lords is a Fun Filled Game

For those who have played EverQuest, but do not have the time or money to play online RPG's, this is the game for you. Combat is just like EQ if not better and the graphics are great. One will find that running around from one town to the next is more adventurous than take the moon bridge. However, the storyline is not easy to follow and some of the quest can be a bit vague (thus a player’s website helps explain the flow of the game better). I do not like that fact that everyone class can use/make spells of all types and the urgency of getting from one quest to the next does not give the chance to just adventure to gain experience. I think if the game had a few more months on the drawing table it would have been a completely better game. I have not had the time to test the multiply ...

  • Better than before!

D.W. Bradley has a track record of releasing games in an unfinished state. Unfortunately the first release of Dungeon Lords was very buggy and incomplete in many respects. Dungeon Lords Collector's Edition resolves many of the issues present in the initial release and adds quite a bit of content. This game follows in the same vein as Wizards & Warriors. Many elements of DLCE are taken directly from W&W; DLCE is definitely the spiritual successor to W&W. I played through both games, one after the other, and they compliment one another wonderfully. Though DLCE is an action RPG, there is quite a bit of thought required for character development. As in W&W, the player accesses new skills by joining guilds. There are many complexities in the ways that the guilds interact; this adds a lot ...

  • Excellent Game

I actually happened unto this game because I love RPG's I bought the first version but it was a big failure unfortunately. It was full of bugs and missing features. I decided to stick around and wait for the patches because something attracted me to it although I couldn't put my finger on it. Was it the cartoonish graphics, the action like combat style mixed with cartoon elements, the fantasy effects, the story ... I don't know but I kept going until the last patch. Then I heard about the collector's edition which is actually the game that it was supposed to be. I tried hard to get it in South Africa but was unable to get it. Luckily through Ebay I was able to get it at a decent price. I am very glad I did this is one of the best games I have ever played. It has a strange enchantment that ...

  • Solid game

Has great graphics and a well balanced interactive environment without going too far.The ability to block and do evasive manuvers was fun.Has a huge variety of spells and quite a few weapons as well. The skill tree was nice but felt that it was a little too "jack of all trades ish".Everyone could use all types of magic and most weapons. This is offset some by the well thought of third tier classes though.Good game overall.

  • too hard to be fun!

I made it maybe half way through the game until the House of Lords quest and almost quit. It has become more work than play and that with options on easiest and using a cheat, though I cannot verify the cheats work! This is too tough to get through the detailed linear tasks just perfectly as this one requires. One cannot even back-track in all places to play around as they lock out some of the past. It would be better if easier and less enemies like the setup allows, though it can be a bit addicting if persistant. I would recommend the game if the price was right.
