About this product

Product Information

After a twelve-year hiatus, Bruce Willis is back as New York City detective John McClane, who still plays by his own set of rules. Following DIE HARD (1988), DIE HARDER (1990), and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE (1995), the fourth installment in the popular action series stars DEADWOOD's Timothy Olyphant as Thomas Gabriel, an evil mastermind who is determined to bring down the entire infrastructure of the United States on Independence Day, sending the country into anarchy and chaos. Joining him on his mission of destruction is the elegant Mai, played by Maggie Q from MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III. McClane becomes involved when he gets caught in the crossfire while transporting prisoner Matt Farrell (Justin Long, most well known as the mac in a series of computer commercials), a hacker extraordinaire who is the perfect complement to the old-school McClane, who eschews cell phones, computers, and doing anything the easy way. But when Gabriel kidnaps McClane's daughter, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, from the DEATH PROOF section of GRINDHOUSE), it gets personal. Full of the sarcastic humor, exciting action sequences -- including flying cars -- and fun characters that have defined the series, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARDER is an excellent addition, directed by Len Wiseman (UNDERWORLD and UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION). The plot was based on a magazine article, "A Farewell to Arms," written by John Carlin, that appeared in a 1997 issue of WIRED magazine. The movie also features Kevin Smith as a computer geek -- er, expert -- known as Warlock, who still lives in his mother's basement. Yippee-ki-yay indeed.

  • Simply Perfect Again !!!! Long Live McClane !!!!

"Live Free or Die Hard" is the viscerally adrenaline-charged action-fueled new installment of the "Die Hard Saga". "A Timex Watch in a Digital Age," sneers Villain Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) of NYPD Cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) in 'Live Free or Die Hard', the exhilarating fourth installment in the "Die Hard" Series. The first since 1995's 'Die Hard: With a Vengeance'. Willis was 40yrs old then; past 50yrs old now, the only thing he has lost is the rest of his hair. And Gabriel is right, McClane is a relic from an Analog World; yet he also forgets the Timex slogan: "It takes a licking but keeps on ticking", and so—gloriously—does McClane. McClane remains the resolutely retro flatfoot Warrior, but Mark Bomback's screenplay reflects our Post 9/11, Post-Katrina Age where official ...

  • Great title awesome movie in the theatre.

I loved the movie in the theatre. Great cast great one liners, awsome action sequences. You never get bored when you watch it. You know after all is said and done. It was partially my fault that when I bought and checked out this dvd that I didn't watch it all the way through to test it when I first got it. I have already gave positive feeback and recieved it back as well. And you know what it was honestly a waste of my money to buy from this individual. I see now for the price and what I got the dvd it wasn't the real deal. It was totally fake. So beware buyers make sure it's the actual dvd. Sometimes price even though low are to good to be true. Make sure it's brand new and make sure it's the real dvd distributed by the actual company. I was given a copy of poor quality. Three quarters ...

  • One of the best Die Hards

Once again Bruce Willis portrays the NYPD Cop John McClain. This time a sinister high security IT guru shuts down a city and then attempts to shut down the entire country. Why? Because he can. Cast aside by the pentagon after 911 his ideas of running a more secure country are met with distain. He takes matters personally and seeks revenge. Had it not been for the heroic actions of McClain keeping a young hacker from being killed, the plan may have worked!

  • Live Free or Die Hard Delivers Action Packed Punch

I'm not a huge fan of the Die Hard series but I do like Bruce Willis. Live Free or Die Hard definitely delivered some action packed punches! Although some stunts were a little unbelievable at times (like most action movies) I enjoyed the fast paced action sequences. Justin Long added a nice touch of humor - who knew the MAC guy was actually kinda cute? Every one hates a bad guy, but I have to say the bad guy in this has a quirky dry sense of humor that some viewers might not pick up on. With a believable story line, Life Free or Die Hard kept me on my toes and left me pondering, "what if?"

  • Unrated is better!

Not the best die hard, but the unrated version is worth having in your collection!
