Solid Music, But Male Listeners May Feel Alienated
Lzzy Hale has a very clear message to deliver on Halestorm's self-titled debut album: women are beautiful, strong and sexually in control. It's rare to find this theme articulated so well outside of the pop music arena, but Halestorm accomplishes the feat nicely, coupled with Hale's strong vocals and the band's hard rock approach to music. Male listeners, however, looking for the next In This Moment may be disappointed. From the first, Hale makes it clear that the album is very much a "girl thing" -- a dissertation on voyeurism ("I Get Off"), taking boys' virginity ("Innocence") and general bad-girl behavior ("I'm Not An Angel," "It's Not You," etc.). This doesn't mean to say that the music is bad ... Lzzy Hale has a very clear message to deliver on Halestorm's self-titled debut album: women are beautiful, strong and sexually in control. Halestorm, 1st cd.
A new band from Pennsylvania. The singer is only in her early twenties. Extremely good ,quality vocals, great emotion and sustain. A very professional band, her brother is the drummer. The songs are well written. Lots of energy were needed, good use of variety in material. They stay mostly to the theme of hard rock with a variety of other styles thrown in. There is a really cool video on their website on myspace, just go to http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=4&oq=halestorm&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4ADBS_enUS243US243&q=halestorm+myspace .
