About this product

Product Information

Madonna up close, by the brother who knows her better than anyone.Christopher Ciccone's extraordinary memoir is based on his forty-seven years of growing up with, working with, and understanding the most famous woman of our time, who has intrigued, scandalized, and entertained millions for half a century.Through most of the iconic star's kaleidoscopic career, Christopher played an important role in her life: as her backup dancer, her personal assistant, her dresser, her decorator, her art director, her tour director. If you think you know everything there is to know about Madonna, you are wrong. Only Christopher can tell the full scale, riveting untold story behind Madonna's carefully constructed mythology, and the real woman behind the glittering facade. From their shared Michigan childhood, which Madonna transcended, then whisked Christopher to Manhattan with her in the early eighties, where he slepton her roach-infested floor and danced with her in clubs all over town -- Christopher was with her every step of the way, experiencing her first hand in all her incarnations. The spoiled daddy's girl, the punk drummer, the raunchy Boy Toy, Material Girl, Mrs. Sean Penn, Warren Beatty's glamorous Hollywood paramour, loving mother, Mrs. Guy Ritchie, English grande dame -- Christopher witnessed and understood all of them, as his own life was inexorably entwined with that of his chameleon sister. He tangled with a cast of characters from artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, to Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Demi Moore, and, of course, Guy Ritchie, whose advent in Madonna's life splintered the loving relationship Christopher once had with her.The mirror image of his legendary sister, with his acid Ciccone tongue, Christopher pulls no punches as he tells his astonishing story.Life with My Sister Madonna is the juicy, can't-put-it-down story you've always wanted to hear, as told by Madonna's younger brother.

    Compelling and a good read

Entertaining and I was glad to learn some things about Madonna that I'm sure she wants hidden from her fans.

  • Confessions of a Forgotten and Lonely Brother

I found this book to be very amusing. Christopher tells us about his childhood, his sexual option, his personal struggles and the backstage life beside one of the greatest showbiz personalities ever - Madonna. His writing and his description on details of things that happenned so long ago makes me wonder if he kept a diary throughout all those years and transcribed all of his memories in the form of a book. Contrary to the perceptions of some readers, I don't think this book is damaging to Madonna's reputation. Like any other family around, relationship among siblings - and human beings in general - has its ups and downs and all he managed to to was to show how it happened in their particular case. Throughout the book, Christopher does not emphasize neither the good and the bad side, ...

  • It's a family affair...

Love it or hate it...this book will definitely keeping your page-turning skills in close check once you grab a copy. Christopher Ciccone, the all too forgettable brother of the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna, finally offers his insights and remunerations of his sister-turned-songbird-turned-superstar in this quasi tell-all confessional. With a slight skewer and a chance at cashing in on a few secret details, the author delivers stories in careful style so as to not risk litigation from his famous sister. Little more than allusions to her finances and marriage are made with the clearest overtures being personal stories that Christoper Ciccone envelopes with pitch perfect clarity. The moderately emotional havoc that Madge has reaped at each intersection of her life is as distinctly felt ...

  • Madonna and Christopher's life together and apart

I like the fact Christopher expresses that he loves and wants the best for Madonna even though they don't speak to each other. He writes about childhood memories and you learn about Madonna as a little girl/growing up. This is a good book to learn more about Madonna as a child (Must for fans)and also it contains adorable pictures of her. At times Christopher complains about Madonna in a way that makes him seem very jealous (Can be annoying). However, it is a sad story because once upon a time they loved to be together and support each other. Hopefully in the future they can be friends again...only time will tell. Love you Madonna!

  • Madonna book

I found this book very interesting and felt like I was in the story by the excellent detail in the book.
