Magellan SmartGPS 5295 was good helper in me trips. Performance is a very good. It very fast build alternative routs and actually shows up to time road traffic. Device have useful Yellow Pages Application (with navigation possibility) and very good searching gas station on your route (up to 30 miles). Once I trapped to fresh closed roads region and my GPS build detour route in several seconds... It have detour function (up to 30 moles) - very useful thing. Map resolution may be better but it have no influence to navigation legibility. Also size some bigger then most another navigators with 5" screen. Summary: very good GPS with some small rebukes which not influence to navigation process.
The GPS was accurate and reliable however i feel that it was too small and the live tiles is a distraction to the driver and the glare was too much because this GPS looks like its all glass, i now that its not but that's the only way i can describe it. the frame makes it look wide but its not. its more frame then GPS. i just wanted a GPS not the other stuff. the blue-tooth was good but the WiFi kept going out so a lot of times i couldn't use all the features sorry Magellan it was a good idea.

I'm on the road 10 months out of the year. (No, I'm not a trucker) I have tried several GPS devices and I bought the "SmartGPS" thinking it would be better than the TomTom I had. The does not seem to know all the roads in the US, although it does in Canada. The screen is bigger then any of the other GPS's I've owned, but the lettering to the smallest. I have to take my eyes off the road to squint to read what I'm looking for. Although the performance to ok, I wish I would have tried a SMART TomTom. (Note there is only one star on Display, this is not excellent it is POOR!
Based upon the Magellan name was the basis for this purchase. The WiFi connection that enables gas updates doesn't work well on this unit. Plus the distance for available gas is only three(3)miles. I feel that I'm better off using an app like GasBuddy for locating fuel when traveling. Odd that all other panes are operational as far as nearby retail and other content seem to update and keep current with movement. All this might be operator failure but there you have it.
Works great, just takes a little time to get used to after using a different brand. I am on the road a lot and like the fact that I can find the best fuel prices rather than fuel up and find it a lot less down the road. I am very happy with my Magellan and would not buy anything else again.
