If you are an avid fan of the original British TV series from the 60s, "The Avengers," starring the strong and sexy Diana Rigg as Emma Peel and the debonair and dandy-ish Patrick Macnee as John Steed, you will find this CD a rare and amusing find. Laurie Johnson's distinctive title track and incidental music for the series were all "splendid" as Steed would say. Unfortunately, the version of the main title on this CD is not the original. Still, the variation is a good version in its own right. Despite the color photo of Steed and Emma on the CD's cover, several tracks are from later, far less intriguing "New Avengers" episodes. Additionally, there are some oddball inclusions of non-Avenger music on the CD I could have done without including a track from Dr.Strangelove, and various suites entitled, "First Men in the Moon," "Hedda," and "Captain Kronos." I got the CD for the old Avenger stuff and am relieved I didn't spend a fortune. If only it could have included original soundtracks from the old show!Read full review
the cd is of high quality, however i must agree with another review, that the music selections were not with the avengers format. only a few selections were on it. i was expecting more avenger selections. especialy i was wanting the original episode ending score as well as the opening score (this was on the cd) over all if you would have been able to see the selections before purchase, one would probably appreciate the cd if these selections were what you expected and desired. best regards, larry
