I was quite enthused to get the DVD in the mail of Death Kappa. I was anxious to see what kaiju legends might surface next. When I began the DVD, I quickly realized that this is a kaiju spoof. If you have kids that enjoy to see a turtle goblin monster dance to silly music, and watch a mad scientist's daughter wheel her father's decaying corpse around crazily in a wheelchair, this is the movie for you. However, I must say that the evil monster, Hangyolas, was exceptionally satisfying, even though they make him out to be a silly spoof as well. All sounds of the monsters are clearly taken from the Godzilla kaijus, such as Titanosaurus, Rodan, and Kumonga. I was very dissappointed in this film. So much work goes into making a kaiju film, and I think it a disgrace to make a mockery of it and of all others that have made them a success. I do not dissuade you from viewing this movie for yourself, but I want you to be warned, it is not a film you will likely watch twice.Read full review
This movie is like a big budget film student project. Production values range from good to terrible. Storyline is ok, if you like Power Rangers you'll like this. The Kaiju set sequences are the best part and nicely choreographed very entertaining. Also, be sure to watch the how it was made extra. Final thoughts, this film really makes me appreciate the Toho monster movies of the past.

For Japanophiles and Tokusatsu fans this looks like an appealing experience. But after spending time with this 'film' I have to admit it's hard to get through. Though the costumes look fairly decent the story, direction and performances really hobble what could have been an interesting addition to the genre. It's actually insultingly stupid in parts, though a few of the battle scenes are tolerable. If you're a die hard fan of ALL suitmation you might find something endearing here, but I'd rather spend time with any of the other classics again. Back to the water from whence you came Kappa!

The worst parody of kaiju and tokusatsu monsterfest that doesn't live up to the norm that a Godzilla movie would. Overall I thought it was funny and was meant to be a parody - a less serious film. 3 stars is descent for this movie - overall can't complain.
