If you are a crafter of average sewing talents (can figure out how to use most sewing patterns, make dresses and pants), then this is the machine for you!! I have been sewing off and on for years, but don't have that much time on my hands for crafting or repairs. I've thought about getting a serger because it cuts down on the time required on projects, but cost was prohibitive and I didn't know much about them. After much research, I figured that this model would be good for most projects and seemed to have a very good reputation. Well, I finally ordered this one and tried to get started. The DVD that came with it was marginally helpful (it's hard to get the right camera angles to see how the demonstrator was threading the machine!), but the instruction booklet was pretty good. After about 20 minutes, I got the thing threaded. I instantly threw an old shirt under the needles and serged ahead. I could instantly tell that the tension was not right, but it sewed and cut at the same time, as promised!! WOW! Of course it will take some time to get used to adjusting settings (more complicated than standard a sewing machine), but I am SEW EXCITED when I think about all of the projects that I'll be able to finally finish without wasting so much time!!!Read full review
The first time I forgot to put the presser foot down, the needles bent the stitch finger on the faceplate. I was able to find a new one but I might want to keep a spare around. It seemed too easy to do. Otherwise, it's an awesome machine and love the stich quality

It is light, really quiet and super smooth. Easy to thread. Highly portable. Cuts easily through several layers of heavy linen. Tension is really simple to adjust.

This is absolutely the best serger I have ever owned. It makes a great stitch with no adjustment. It was hard at first to learn to thread but stuck with it and it continues to work beautifully. I find that it will be a work horse for all types of fabrics. I use this in preference to my more expensive computerized machine.
