Interesting book!I read a lot of books about famous ppl. Some of them you have to force yourself to finish after the first few chapters. This is not one of those books, it will keep you entertained, and is well written for sure. I would of never guessed this articulate, straight looking California hippie type guy would of been into all the stuff he mentions in this book. I got onto this book because I had read his daughters book, and wanted to know a little bit about him before I judged him an incest freak maniac type. His daughter really paints this guy as some type of demon and I believe she exaggerates quite a bit in her book, after reading his.I imagine there is some truth to what Mackenzie is saying, but she was quite the drugged out whore and I find her morals to be less than acceptable. He is not here to tell his side of the story, and she waited until he was gone to write about it.The people closest to him say "no way".Fact of the matter is she didn't know him very well to begin with, and we will never know anyways.Even if it is true she was a consenting adult and it takes two to tango. Well written and exciting. I urge readers to look past what you've heard about him and give it a read, you might learn something! A common theme I find in rock star biographies is heroin (or other strong opiates in this case)abuse, and this book is no exception.A rollercoaster ride on the junkie express. If you ever consider doing hard drugs, or dabble with them--give this a read--it will give you a peek at whats down the road for you. It amazes me how this guy could stay functional and be at the point he was. Also you will learn that he was way more than just a dope head who wrote a few catchy tunes-one very interesting gy that's been around the block a few times!! A+ 4/5 stars--give it a read-- I dare you!Read full review

This book is a rare find I needed for research for my writing a biography of WILSON PHILLIPS. The book is out of print and expensive, so I feel fortunate in finding Papa John at such a reasonable price.
I couldn't stop reading this auto., because of not only the RAW truth, but the unbelievable humour that the "late" John Phillips pocessed, not only in general, BUT, regarding HIMSELF.
I bought this book to my husband and he like it and told me that is a very interesting. So he want to recommended because is a true story.
