Its hard to say enough good things about "The Confusion". My brother and I read it concurrently and we would txt message each other events as we discovered them.....e.g. "did you get to the part where......" Not a light read by any means, and sometimes there are pages and pages of blatant fact dumping and descriptions of late 17th century and early 18th century businesses, clothes, money, etc. Really much of it is like taking a history class. Of course, you have to start reading with Quicksilver, then The Confusion, then read The System of the World, and finish with the Cryptonomicon. These are the adventures of two men....Jack Shaftoe, an illiterate vagabond, and Daniel Waterhouse, an erudite and moderately wealthy member of the Royal Society of London. I think about these books often and recommend them to all my friends....but be ready for a lot of extra wordiness. It took me about 400 pages to really get an idea of what was happening in the book.Read full review
