Fascinating, instinctual
I found this book truly enlightening, as I had never been encouraged to tap into my instincts as a child. I didn't even know how to do this. The author uses stories from her culture, with which she was raised, as a teaching guide for women to learn to use their instincts. We are all born with instincts, but are taught to rationalize them away as small children in order to fit into society as good people. We then begin to lose our authentic selves. Clarissa Pinkola Estes uses this book as a tool to those of us who are ready to find that authentic self. I was given this book originally by a friend, and have since lent it to a few other women, and recently bought this book through ebay for my sister starting a divorce after 30+ years. I would highly recommend it to any woman.

Discovering the Survival Instincts Within
This is not just a book, this is a guide, to help the reader understand how powerful and strong a woman really is. This book provides wisdom, encouragement, and understanding to help the reader reach deep inside herself to find her strengths. It is written in visuals and with stories to explain the deepest of the innate abilities that live within. I strongly recommend this to anyone on the search for strength, understanding, and confidence through trying times or as a place to lean on for strength during a climb to meet the seemingly unattainable goals we are sometimes presented with. I love this book and I recommend it to any woman seeking strength. I bought it because I share this book with my friends or with people that I meet who seem to be in a struggle with some of life's challenges, especially those challenges of finding a successful relationship or recovering from an unsuccessful one. This is the book that should live with you. It is a reference and offers many helpful insights into why we may be in certain situations and how we can find our strength from deep inside to change outcomes and perspectives. A wolf has an instinct to survive, so, do women. This book should be read with patience and time to reflect and consider what has been written. It would be great for group discussions.
