  • The Boys' War by Jim Murphy (1990)

I own this book in a softcover version, and I desired a more durable copy in a hardcover version. The photos are clear and detailed, the information is very rare and informative on such little known facts regarding the Civil War. The boys who fought in the Civil War were as young as 12 and the majority as old as 16 years of age. I own a cdv of a set of twin boys who fought in the Union Army during the Civil War and these boys were only 12 years of age. Sadly, these twin boys did not survive to see manhood. Little known fact: Only 2% of the women in America collect military items. Gloria

  • The Boys' War by Jim Murphy (1990)

Wonderful little history book, reveling more of the depth of impact on family and society, in our US Civil War. While this is not written for "children", it is about children in war. I bought it for my 15 year old granddaughter, the history scholar, trusting she is mature enough to handle this subject. It is a pity to think children were sent along with armies, sometimes following dad or brother, too often the money. This is not a generic table top book. "The Boys" and their photos touched my heart.

  • I love history!

I am reading about the civil war trying to get a feel of what it was like to live in that time.
