This marvelous book is much, much more than directions for knitting the featured garments. It includes the history of the Tudors, a genealogical chart of the Tudor Dynasty, fabulous pictures of the knitted garments, and, of course, Alice Starmore's patterns so that you can make them for yourself! Now these patterns are not for beginners. Rather, they are more for very experienced knitters. BUT, there are a few sweaters such as the one for Elizabeth Woodville and the one for Margaret Beaufort that advanced beginners could learn from. Don't be afraid to rip things out if you make a mistake. If I had a nickel for every time, I've ripped out something I've been working on, I'd be rich & I've been knitting for 49 years. And the photos of the garments are exquisite! The details are amazing right down to the jewelry and hairstyles. I highly recommend this book for knitters and history buffs alike!Read full review
