The SNES is a little slow and delayed, but it's still great for gameplay! The music hands down stands out better than any other platform for Doom. A great addition for any game players library!

The red cartridge looks good and the graphics were decent. The cons were the cost, had to replace the SNES back label sticker because the original was in rather bad shape, I couldn't get past the first stage along with encountering no animate opponents, and so I decided to sell to Universal Collectibles though it was considerably less than the $23.99 price that I paid for with the added cost of $3.25 for the replacement label purchased to replace the original SNES back sticker.

Wow I remembered this as a child my buddy saying how great Doom was I was like yeah back in 93 on DOS. As with all shooters on Super Nintendo this is awful pretty much unplayable random frame drop collision errors no ai, no draw distance. The sound track is ok better than most of the one on Saturn sounds are similar bit worse. Graphics abysmal the only thing you can actually see is the hud enemies once they "hear you" will just attack off screen making no sound. No menu or demo at all and it plays at some freaky resolution way below original so its in a small box taking up half the screen. Unless your a Nintendo fanboy dont try to play this you can get a lot more for 20 bucks elsewhere. I've played every mainstream version and the rare Sega Saturn version this is worst.

This game is slow and plodding compared to the PC version, but that just makes it less action and more survival-horror. And the music in the SNES version is much better than those primitive, thin midi files that pass for music in the PC version. This game is awesome.

I remember this game from the PC,Sega, and SNES as a young child growing up. After watching the AVGN reviews or comment during a review or whatever it was.. I decided to buy it. great game for the money spent, the graphics can be a bit grainy and hard to follow room to room. plus some rooms are symeterical making it EVEN MORE hard to follow. the controls are a bit stiff, its not 3D like Golden Eye for the n64, its kind of 2D made to look 3Dish. other then that ITS AWESOME. i played it for a few hours the first day i got it, started drinking a bit and lost intrest because of the graphics being hard on my eyes. i suggest this game to any nintendo collector, fan of FPS games who ownes a SNES, or anyone at all looking for a good game for an old system
The game that all other F.P.S.'s followed. The original DooM is a legend and following the awesome game that was Wolfenstein 3D, lives up to its predecessor and surpasses it also. The SNES version of DooM is very much like the PC counterpart, but is still second best. The SNES version doesn't have episode choice and cannot be saved. The only other drawback is it runs at a considerably lower frame rate, way lower than the PC version but its not to the point where its unplayable. The music is defiantly superior to this versions counterpart, the 32x version by leaps and bounds. In DooM, you play as the un-named space marine that must single handily fight the forces from Hell and survive. The game features many levels, difficulties, and weapons, as well as secrets, and even some secret levels, something that games now neglect as not being necessary or even fun. This is also one of the special few games that uses the FX chip the SNES became famous for. This game truly shows what the SNES is capable hardware wise. The controls are also very good considering unlike the PC version you use a mouse and keyboard. One final bit of interest is that this game came as a red cartridge, but later was just the standard grey. Killer Instinct is the only other game I can think of that its cart was a different color, black, rather than the standard. Definitely one of the best game on the SNES, it should not be missed by anyone with a SNES or looking to collect games for it.Read full review
Taking no credit away from its genre predecessor, Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM was the breakthrough game of 1993, and the more influential of ID's first person shooters. Its arsenal of powerful guns (namely the Shotgun and BFG), intense level of gore and perfect balance of adrenaline-soaked action and exploration kept this gamer riveted for years. Initially a shareware product on PC, DOOM also offered the first multiplayer deathmatches via LAN. Doom is creepy, atmospheric, with a sense of impending dread that always seems to be just around the next corner or behind that door. There couldn't have been a better name for the game.
I get why some people aren't fond of this version, but I enjoy most ports of Doom and its quite impressive
