I like the presentation of this book as it comes across similar to a graphic novel. Very artistic and the quality of the paper is very high. I holding the book, just turning the pages... and the content is very serious. Must read for Motley fans, rock history, and addiction.

Despite being a huge Motley Crue fan, I felt this book was a wonderful look inside the day-to-day life of a full-blown drug addict. What could be more "real" then an actual daily journal from the addict himself!? If your looking for a book that sugar-coats the lifestyle of an addict, this book is not for you! Mr. Sixx leaves nothing to the imagination when describing his thoughts, fears, concerns etc. Right down to his daily hygeine! Anyone who even remotely thinks drugs are glamourous should read this book. Mr. Sixx tells it like it is and allows the reader a detailed insight to just how out of control his life became. I read the book in just two days! As you may have already guessed, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an honest portrayal of just how low a human being can go to feed their addiction.Read full review
My book had an autograph on inside cover which was a nice surprise.Nikki's story was written in an unusually sort of non chronological way that served it's purpose as entertaining enough to hold my attention!

This is an amazing book. If you are a Crue fan, then you need to read this book. Its very unique and it doesn't turn out the way you think it should. Nikki is an amazing man and what he endures his whole life is eye opening to any one who will read the book. The only thing that I didn't like was having so many side things to read, but you wouldn't know what is going on if you don't hear from everyone. So being a fan of Motley Crue and wanting to know all I can about them was great. If you read this book then you should also read "The Dirt" another good book.Thank you.
I loved it, very easy read not for a person looking for a long read. This is a story about a year in the life of Nikki Sixx( bassist, writer, and co-founder of Motley Crue) when his drug use was at his worst. It gives you a blow by blow account of his life back then in his words and others around him at the time. It is very graphic and very self indulgence. Just goes to prove tragedy makes for good reading, and his life is really messed up?
excellent book written by Nikki's dark year of living hell in life of total addiction. Painful to read at times hearing the brutally honest truth about his addiction. I'm sure even parts of the book have to be humiliating for Nikki to share those skeletons in his closet but I believe he truly wrote the book NOT to tell people what to do, but to help others, to show what happens when you do these things as opposed to not doing them. Very powerful message thru out the book as well as the CD
I decided to buy this book because I was curious about Nikki Sixx---I have been a fan of Motley Crue since the 80's and I wanted to know more about his lifestyle. I had just finished reading Slash when I started this book and I have to say that Nikki Sixx had one messed up existence! I am shocked that he is still walking! And to think in the 80's everyone knew rock stars partied but to read about the results of all that mess and the mental and physical tolls that it took on his person was unbelievable. I think that by him sharing this year of experiences maybe he could save someone else. Nikki Sixx should be commended for even making this part of his life public--that takes alot of guts.
I have been a Motley Crue fan for years and a huge fan of Nikki Sixx in particular. I always thought that he had the perfect life. He was living the dream. Wow!! I was amazed at how his life had spiraled out of control. The fact that he was able to function at all is a miracle. I think it was very couragous of him to publish this book about his drug use and everything else that was going on in his life at that time. If anything, I am even a bigger fan now than ever. I couldn't put the book down. It was just completely amazing. I think any fan of the group or Nikki should purchase this book. It is truly amazing that he is still alive and is positive about his life now.
I had heard things here and there about this book, and was at first unsure what to think about it. I picked up the soundtrack to the book, yeah I know soundtrack to a book right? Kind of weird? Never really done...I know I know...But the soundtrack is what ended up leading me to the book. On the cd Nikki reads excerpts from the book, and what I heard was VERY powerful, and began to interest me more and more. To make a long story short, I own both the soundtrack and the book, they go hand in hand, and are simply amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a creative, well done, and well put together book that gives you the reader, a first hand disturbing look into the life of someone suffering from addiction and consumed with excess. It's a 10/10. -K.
Have never written a review of any book I have read so this should tell you a little something about how I felt after reading this book! First of all once I started reading, I couldn't put it down, took me 2 days! This is about Heroin in the 80's! The only thing I can say that has changed is now you don't need much money to become an addict and continue feeding that addiction! We can all easily say if you wanted to quit you would but Heroin is the most addicitve of all the drugs on the street and it is the cheapest! Thanks so much for Nikki telling it like it is! Yes, a lot of things can factor in for some people but for others, they try it once and they are addicted! Look at the research and you will see! The heroin is always a mix! Some places it is oxycotin, a prescription narcotic! If you know any one with this addiction or any family going through this, please have them read this book! It actually does help! Great Book!Read full review
