The Bluetooth connection works great. Battery life is great. I don't use this keyboard and mouse for fps gaming however as there is a slight lag sometimes. All of the pros far outway the lag. The LCD and onboard calculator are super handy as well as the hot keys. The mouse is very comfortable and the scrolling works great. The fast scroll works very well, I find myself fidgeting with the scroll wheel a lot and it seems to hold up well. The thumb scroll flips documents by default, which I found handy. The mouse charge holds up for an extremely long time. I've had this set around a month and I have only charged it once. I don't use it every day, but at least every other day. The software to modify the keyboard is very nice, there are a few bugs that I have noticed, but it is fairly polished and easy to use. It is required to make the LCD display the time and date. If it wasn't for the slight lag, this set would definitely deserve 5 stars imo.Read full review

A great combo of mouse and keyboard for the user who doesn't want to be bound by wires. This combo fulfills the needs of those who had enjoyed the mx1000 mouse and keyboard combo and has fixed some of the issues that we had. Keyboard has a good rest to it for those with imperfect typing form, while the mouse fits in my large hands rather comfortably much like the mx1000 that i had used for many many years. The rechargeable battery in the mouse is quite nice at keeping you untethered and with the right batteries the keyboard will keep you typing (grab some sanyo eneloops and you'll ask for no better rechargeable AA batteries). This set gets 4stars being although it met my needs, there are ways to improve.
This wireless combo was my choice because of the super scrolling feature of the mouse wheel. Actual performance of this feature is disappointing because it doesn't always activate the super scroll mode and doesn't always return to normal mode as it should. Everything else is great. Keyboard has a great feel, mouse is very comfortable, and both the keyboard and mouse have many convenience features. The keyboard activated page zoom mode and the keyboard media player controls save a lot of time. Next/previous track keys work with the VLC media player and Windows Media Center but not with Windows Media Player (a non-issue for me since I rarely use WMP). The 3D view function is especially convenient when a lot of windows are open and you need to find one that is hidden in the normal 2D view. The assignable FN keys and dedicated short cut keys are real time savers. Mouse has a long battery life between charges. Installation and set-up was a breeze. Had I had personal experience with the super scroll feature, I would have chosen a different wireless combo at a lower price. I paid the higher price for a feature that is great when it works but doesn't always function as it should. Otherwise, a full featured combo with great feel and battery life.Read full review
This combination keyboard and mouse is far and away the best I have ever owned and do not expect to ever replace it. I purchased two new ones when Logitech first introduced it years ago and for the life of me I can't comprehend why Logitech would discontinue it. Especially the mouse, is absolute perfection. In fact, to prove my point, look around for a brand new one never use and still sealed in the box, and the asking prices range between $450.00 and $500.00. And even at that price, there aren't many around to be had. The one I purchased on eBay was obviously used and I only purchased it for spare parts to keep mine in new condition - something the previous owner of this particular one did not do. The only thing that I would have liked and is missing, is a rechargeable keyboard like the mouse is, and lighted keys. Also, since then, Logitech has managed to create what in my opinion is a terrific feel and touch to their latest generation of keyboards that if it they had kept producing the MX5500 (Or whatever they wanted to call it), it truly would be a work of art. The mouse is perfect as it is and anything they would do to it, would only detract from it. It is incomprehensible to me that Logitech no longer offers this combo and have done nothing to replace it with anything even close to it. What a shame...Read full review
This is an amazing keyboard, mouse combo. I really like it. I preferred to buy it from E-bay because it was the cheapest I could find out there for a brand new item. Pros: All the extra Fn functions in the keyboard. Cons: 1. The keyboard is missing NUMLOCK hard key instead you need to use the software setpoint to turn ON/OFF 2. The mouse center scroll does not act like a middle button for my X server application. This is one bothering thing for me.
Amazing item. very comfortable. New price is very high, but used price was good. It's worth buying. Keys are very easy to use. Many macros are able to be programmed. The blue tooth works like a charm. I didn't feel any lag, and I type pretty fast. I am not sure about gaming. I haven't tried it.

I considered the microsoft 8000 set but this set was much cheaper and had all the same features minus the backlit rechargeable keyboard but I got some decals from myglowkeys.com that are as good as the backlight and it only uses 2 sets of 4 AA batteries per year. the mouse opened up features my computer had all along that I didn't even know about and makes surfing the web a breeze with features like the search button that googles anything I highlight with one click. Too many great features to list in one review but much like my logitech harmony remote control it is first class all the way
Keyboard lets you assign some keys to application you want to run by depressing one keyboard key. The mouse also lets you set up buttons to your liking.

The Logitech MX 5500 is a very good keyboard. The only way it could be better is if it had lighted keys and a background light in the display window. There are more functions than I need. Logitech said only a logitech bluetooth receiver will work with this keyboard but that's not so. I'm using a bluetooth receiver that I already had that I purchased on Ebay and it works just fine. All and all this is a great keyboard don't be afraid to buy it.
This is my fourth purchase of the Logitech MX5500 over about a 10 years preiod. They are not made anymore so they are hard to find. I don't know why they stopped producing them. Maybe because the letters wear off the keys quickly and the matte finish becomes pilled and sticky after 9 months or so, and cannot be cleaned with any solvent. However, in terms of electronics and features, this is my favorite wireless keyboard/mouse yet, and I am addicted.
