Good brand of thermal paste.
I've used this stuff for years. Bought this as I needed to re-paste my i5-3570k and Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo heat sink After application my CPU's temps dropped by about 20 degrees Celsius. Always use a good brand and quality paste when it comes to your CPU. Have bought it before, will buy it again.

Dependable, predictable, consistent
There's a plethora of thermal compound on the market nowadays. I've been using AS5 for the best part of a decade, on CPUs, GPUs, chipsets etc, and it's always performed well. It does indeed have a 'break in' period, but that's nothing to be terribly concerned about. Seems to perform the best with a very, very thin layer (I mean hair-thin!) first spread on the heatsink with on old plastic card, in addition to a small amount on the die/heat spreader of the chip your cooling. Unlike a few other cheaper compounds, this one separates easily and won't rip things off with it. It's also extremely easy to clean off, although you will find it sticks to fingers easily and can find its way onto clothing, but common sense should prevail. If you have an old or new PC, definitely don't cheap-out on ... There's a plethora of thermal compound on the market nowadays. Pretty incredible.
I needed to replace the thermal paste in my laptop because I was replacing the CPU with a better one (to those that don't know, you can do this so long as you are using the same pin array, generation, appropriate wattage and family without having to update or change a thing [on compatible devices]). I was amazed at just how well the Arctic Silver 5 works compared to the stock paste that ran dry a while ago. I no longer experience excessive fan speeds or thermal throttling even when playing games on my laptop. I needed to replace the thermal paste in my laptop because I was replacing the CPU with a better one (to those that don't know, you can do this so long as you are using the same pin array, generation, appropriate wattage and family without having to update or change a thing [on compatible devices]). I was amazed at just how well the Arctic Silver 5 works compared to the stock paste that ran dry a while ago. I no longer experience excessive fan speeds or thermal throttling even when playing games on my laptop.

Great news! my Xbox's are now fixed.
Fixed 2 old original Xbox's. The paste is thicker than the cheap stuff which I had tried on these same 2 Xbox's without any luck. But using the Artic Silver 5 paste has the Xbox's up and working, great news.

Went from 85c to a stable 40 while under load. Plenty of Thermal paste for multiple use. Really solid contact adhesion (Went to check how it spread and was REALLY hard to remove heatsink). Arrived quickly.
