    A Painted House.

    This rendition of John Grisham's novel, "A Painted House" is essentially faithful to the spirit of the printed story. It was an unexpected departure from the legal and courtroom genre Grisham readers and viewers of other film adaptions of his work will be more familiar with. In reading the novel, one enters the story with perhaps an unfortunate predisposition that Grisham is being emulatory of other notable novels. "To Kill A Mockingbird" will be one of the first to spring to mind. Maybe this is because the author seems to have attempted to draw more detailed word-pictures of the environment and society in which the family lived. The novel however, is a standalone and draws deeply upon the author's own early history, which is discussed in the DVD extras. The film presentation went its ...

    Good Movie

    Very well done. John Grisham is a favorite author of mine and I had read the book first. Of course the movie can't cover everything in depth like the book can but they came very close. Good characters and filmed well.
