    Home automation made easy!

    I was a little concerned adding a hub to connect the different home automation technologies in my house. Smartthings made it super easy! I was able to connect my Nest thermostat (using a community provided app) to the hub along with my ZWave connected door lock from Kwikset. I plan on adding other connected lightbulbs and a Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener in the future along with an Amazon Alexa. The Smartthings hub makes combining multiple home automation protocols simple and accessible through its app.

    Great idea. Ahead of its time (in a bad way)

    Samsung is still working out many kinks which makes this product user unfriendly. I basically had to learn to code to get it to work right. However, it can control basically everything. You just need to have patientce because it is a newer technology with a lot of bugs. If you don't want to fiddle, constantly troubleshoot, then wait till mot bugs are worked out. Especially if you have a whole house of devices. If you are a simple user with just a few lights and wanting a starter security system or are te ch savvy then you can probably handle this hub.

    Buy the Smart Things Hub V2 DO NOT BUY V3!

    For whatever reason, Samsung ST Hub V3 is downgraded and costs more. The V2 hub still has the capability of local processing for some commands, and can integrate with all the protocols. The V2 hub has more capacity, is faster and has more features and costs less. (Do not buy V3!)
