IF YOU LOVE 1950'S AND 1960'S SITCOM COMEDY: THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS IS WAITING FOR YOU!
DOBIE GILLIS WAS A WONDERFUL PROGRAM IN THE LATE 1950'S THRU THE EARLY 1960'S. THE WRITING WAS UNIQUE AND AHEAD OF IT'S TIME. THE CHARACTERS WERE VERY MEMORABLE AND ALWAYS EXTREMELY WITTY AND QUITE LOVEABLE. IF YOU LISTEN CLOSELY YOU WILL HEAR VERY QUICK DIALOUGE BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS, ESPECIALLY SCENES WITH DOBIE GILLIS AND MAYNARD G. CREBS THE BEATNIK, PLAYED BY BOB DENVER OF GILLIGANS ISLAND FAME. GOOD TV OLD DAYS, WHEN OUR WORLD WAS A MUCH SIMPLER PLACE AND TIME.

Blast From The 1960s Past
This is a real blast from the past. 1960 teenage hokum with a love struck loser and a ditzy beatnik. While the series is not exceptionally great, it does give us a ride down memory lane. One of the best features of the series is a young & hot Tuesday Weld. No wonder Dobie is hopelessly in love. The series also has several other young actors who went on to become stars.

A Classic TV Series from the Golden Age
Thanks to the Shout Factory, this hilarious sitcom is available as a 21 DVD boxed set, including every episode, along with extras like interviews and outtakes. I love the cast members; many are veteran actors from film and TV, and of course Bob Denver steals the scenes as Maynard the loveable beatnik. This is a highly entertaining series, and modestly priced, considering there are 147 episodes. I give it 5 stars!

Why Dobie Gilles went down
First season was great. Then the funny lines and plots quickly went down hill. The show must have lost the original writers as the seasons went by. The show didn’t even list the writing staff until the fourth and final season. Credits listed only one writer and call him, “ the story director” or something as degrading if that’s not the exact wording in the credits. I never knew why the show was cancelled, but now I know. Due to lack of effort from all parties involved.
