Tthe Graphite is the first gen of the Lytro cameras. it's super easy to learn to use.. especially, if you download their manual. for these, you will need to get your own connection for your computer. * Of note * make absolutely sure that the connections are USB standard on one end and the Micro on the other. do NOT try to use the mini! it can screw up the plug.

The Lytro was a thing before some 15 years but now this camera is a vintage item. The light-filed photography is an interesting but quality of the chip (it's from mid-2000s) is very limiting today. I was able to made some average-looking pictures but that's all The camera requires specialist software - it is freely available but it run on Intel Macs and on some Windows computers (64bit only, W10 seems to be OK). There are only incomplete tools for use on Linux. Please note that one still need a powerful computer to be a aple to work with images in real time. As a toy, it's very nice. As a camera its not that much. Your contemporary phone will make much better pictures.

I had followed the "startup" of this camera. I collect all type of camera gear and kept my eye on this camera. I purchased this 1st gen when some of their higher end cameras were released. Price was great. The bad is the low resolution, the good, the software and the ability to adjust focus and exposure. It is a new process for taking photos and takes a little getting use to. If you find one in the 40-50$ range then grab it up and have some fun. When using the gen one camera in the software just "double click" somewhere on the photo to change the focal point.

The lytro light field camera is an easy to use point and shoot camera. The benefit is once the photo is taken you have options to change the depth of field. And make 3D pictures using the downloadable software. Also you can upload a link from the lytro web site of your photos to share on Facebook.

The Lytro is fun! I admit the quality of printed photos is not up to par, but the ability to "refocus" on the screen brings a new dimension to photography. I am a serious amateur, and own several Nikon DSLRs, as well as lighting, backdrops, etc, and will continue to use all that for my serious photography, but the Lytro lets me experience a new technology. It does require using the Lytro Desktop software to import and export photos. I'm running a mid-range Windows 10 system, and have no problems. I was unable to load the iPad software (version conflict ??), but it has limited functionality and horrible reviews..No problem - I didn't know it existed when I bought the camera, so it isn't missed. The Lytro isn't for everyone, but for those interested in new technology, and those who like toys, I recommend it :)Read full review
