Dennis Miller proves he is a thinking-person's comedian in The Off-White Album (1988). His routines are a cynical sarcastic's dream. The intellectual ability he exercises, tying in endless pop-culture references to the otherwise mundane aspects of life, makes his humor both thoughtful, fresh, and funny. Miller had not yet begun employing the "rant" style which is his current stand-up comedy hook, in The Off-White Album. Still, this CD is teeming with the kind of pop-culture touchstones, aloofness, black humor, and intellectual references that his faithful fans expect and appreciate. Miller's routines cover everything from doing his style of comedy in the south to his personal quirks. His sophisticated, deadpan style makes the audience take a breath from time to time, but is nonetheless funny. If you appreciate sarcasm, we recommend this CD.Read full review
