I like old cameras, and the Canon TX is no exception to this. As a former Canon user 25 years a, I am somewhat sentimental about this camera. However, those old mechanical cameras are very simple and last for a long time, if well taken care of. The best Things about Canon TX is the simplicity. You have the functins you need, a shutter, aperture, and you can fairly cheap buy high class Canon FD lenses. Additional Canon TX is a real master of Learning tool, you learn the basics of photography, something to benefit from even on digital. There are no Things I don't like about the camera, it's almost Perfect. The viewfinder is big and Bright, important to compose Pictures, whether in Winter or summer. Most digital displays are difficult in sunny conditions. I would recommend this camera to the Learning student or the seasoned photographer wanting a simple and reliable tool.Read full review
I bought this camera for $4.69 =)) And good thing is you do not need to buy expensive battery for it. It is really easy to find 1.5V battery (instead of original 1.35V) for another $1.5! And for such a low price you are buying really genue & solid device you didn't expect get for this money. It works! It does make shots! As good shots as you are a good photographer. The only thing makes me sad - is 1/500 shutter speed limit. Not enought for sunny weather if you have lighter optics as FL 55/1.2 =)) So sometimes you'll be obliged, forced to close diaphragm. Anyway it is good old-fashioned device that will not dissapoint you.
This is a classic student camera with all the necessary features to take solid film shots. Really accurate match-needle light meter. Keep in mind that the shutter speed only goes up to 500, unlike the 1000 speed of its slightly more sophisticated doppelgänger, the AE-1. The TX is perfect for starting out in film photography, very straightforward usage without many parameters to mess up if you're not a master yet. But don't let the ease of use turn you off to this camera--it's still entirely capable of taking beautiful, intricately balanced pictures. Also, this thing is built like a tank, with a very satisfying weighty and metallic feel in your hands. If buying used, and you are having aperture adjustment issues, try depressing the depth-of field lever a few times.
