This is a well-made thermometer at a reasonable price (though not always easy to shake down after use). If you need it for low body temperature (as in hypothyroid conditions) it's not much help as it only goes down to 35.5C. It does say this in the description but I missed it, so read the small print if this is what you need it for.

The thermometer is advertised as "Geratherm" but it is made by "Jiangsu Yuyue Medical Instruments" China. One can see how true Geratherm product looks like by googling "Geratherm classic" And it is different. This does not necessarily mean that the Chinese thermometer is bad so not 1 but 2 stars, but, in essence, this is fraud.

The galinstan alloy, liquid at room temperatures, is a good alternative to mercury. The readings, compared to a traditional mercury-in-glass clinical thermometer, seem accurate. However, putting both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales inside the glass makes it awkwardly bulky to keep under the tongue for the necessary 4 minutes. It would be better to have two models, having the two different scales used in different places, that would be almost as slim as the traditional clinical thermometers.

Good size and easy to hold. Better than those digital as no battery needed (always seem to find when we're ill it's gone flat). This "old-tech" is still the most reliable

Excellent since it measures Fahrenheit as well as the other one. Easy to use and gives a good clear reading too, although the wait time for a reading is somewhat longer than a mercury thermometer (but we are not allowed to have those anymore). The 'easy flip' reset tool means you can reset it in a few quick flicks. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to have keep replacing batteries every few months.
