These diaphragms break often. It is a necessary evil having to replace them constantly. The cleaner itself works well, this part is just the weakest link. Precision Pool Parts sells them at the best price available in Australia at the moment as far as I could see.

  • Top critical review

    Abysmal Product Engineering

The Zodiac Barracuda has a massive design flaw The fact you need to regularly keep replacing the diaphragm is annoying and expensive No problems with the seller - massive issue with the engineers of this pool cleaner (although it was prob. the marketing team or the accountants that told them to make it so perishable) That and the fact they keep changing the design so you have to be careful which one you buy If I had to buy a pool cleaner it wouldn't be Zodiac (this came with the house)

  • A good design compromised by mediocre performance which could be so easily fixed.

Not a bad product but it won't last more than 2 or 3 months. This is caused by the basic design which is constantly flexed and eventually gives up - thus breaks and the machine ceases to operate. I am forced to buy 3 or 4 of them per year @ $32 each, meaning $128 per year to keep the machine operating. Not a good design particularly compared to previous products, but they had their own design faults too. Other then the obvious reason that they make their money through constant replacement of parts, I wonder if there is a replacement which is thicker rubber and doesn't break down/split so easily.

  • previous design was better

Hi there I previously had the zodiac G3. My pool is situated close to gum trees and the G3 diaphragm was able to pick up gum nuts and leaves with no problem. However i had to replace the G3 with the T3 and I must say that the design of the diaphragm is very disappointing as it gets jammed up with the smallest gum tree nut and stops moving. I have to consistently push the gum nuts through to make it do its job.

  • Not good value for money

They are well designed and work however they don't last long. About twelve months and they fail requiring a replacement. Replacement costs are very high compared to the actual cost of production. A relatively small plastic item that is mass produced should cost about $10.00 not well over $30.00.
