I am a beginner but so far the Canon T2i has been very easy to use and produces great pictures without breaking the bank. Great deep editing and range of controls. I love having the viewfinder vs the display only like my other camera *(Olympus TG-5). The viewfinder allows for very quick setup of a picture and then I can switch to display to see the results of my particular settings for the shot. The last time I attempted to take pics was with an old Canon AE-1 in the 80s and I loved how similar the T2i was to my old AE-1. Apology in advance - Again I am still a beginner so this review may be a 'yawn' for those that are in the know. For those who are beginners grabbing a used Canon T2i I would say is a great starting place to learn and grow... you can always spend a LOT more money if you want later if needed.Read full review

The live view screen has a timer on it so when you are trying to center a solar system object for focusing its a pain to have to reset the live view all to often. Crop movie is great for astrophotography. The camera is relatively light so hanging it on the back of my scope/mount has been no problem.

Yeah, the image sensor is cropped = a slightly cropped picture, but I cropped my pants at the $600 I literally cropped off the purchase price. Plus, I have a Canon XS and it was seemless to learn this one. However, I hope you are good at focusing your camera manually in real-time in video mode- builds character. Yes, you may push the shutter half way down to auto-focus, but you need do that everytime you want to focus on something else. I'm still learning, but I'm having fun!

I purchased this pre-owned camera and I was thrilled with it right out of the box. The features are amazing and the picture quality is outstanding. I took a few hours to take the camera through it's paces and it past with flying colors. This somewhat older 18Mp gem performed just as good as some of the newer models and won't break the bank. Portrait, wildlife, weddings or whatever your thing is, this camera is up to the task. This is great for the novice or the professional and if you can find one for a reasonable price and in great shape, grab it!

I decided to trade in my Canon Rebel Xti for this new Canon model. This is very similar to the Xti so it was very easy for me to pick up on using it. The jump to 18 megapixels is wonderful and makes for clear crisp photos. It also makes a flash less necessary and gives you more natural looking pictures. The video mode is nice too. It's so convenient - I could be taking a picture and all of a sudden I see a video moment - all I have to do is hit the button and switch over - easy peasy! I was really excited about the "Live View" feature b/c the Rebel Xti did not have this. I find this to be the one downside to this camera. The camera takes like 3 or 4 times as long to focus in live view as it does in regular view. By the time it does all of this the moment could be gone. I tend to stay out of "live view". Even with that flaw I still think this camera is very good. I would recommend it to anybody - whether it be someone with a photography hobby or a mom just trying to get some good pictures of her kids. It's not at all hard to use and takes fantastic pictures!Read full review
