Synopsis
Greg Mortenson stumbled, lost and delirious, into a remote Himalayan village after a failed climb up K2. The villagers saved his life, and he vowed to return and build them a school. The remarkable story of his promise kept is now perfect for reading aloud. Told in the voice of Korphe's children, this story illuminates the humanity and culture of a relevant and distant part of the world in gorgeous collage, while sharing a riveting example of how one person can change thousands of lives.

  • An important and beautifully designed book for children

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed Three Cups of Tea, and Stones into Schools, I was pleased to learn of this book designed for children about Greg Mortensons work. I was not disappointed. The illustrations by Susan Roth are beautifully done in paper collage and the text simple enough for a child of 8 or so to read, but not so simple as to insult a childs intelligence. It is a great book for helping children learn just how education is valued by others, and why they are so fortunate to have schools to attend.

  • Great Book

This is an awsome story about a man from the U.S. going to Pakistan on a climbing mission and ending up staying for about 10 years to build schools for pakistani children. It is a wonderful non fiction picture book that even young children could understand and enjoy

  • Creative

I purchased Listen to the Wind because our book club read Three Cups of Tea by Mortenson. At our March meeting, we all looked through Listen to the Wind before we started our discussion. Everyone loved the illustrations and the simpler story that Mortenson geared to appeal to younger readers. After looking at the book, many club members decided to buy Listen to the Wind to read to their children or grandchildren. It's an excellent adaptation.

  • 5* Humanitarian story excellent grade school sharing

Excellent true story will appeal to young readers ages 4 and up. A good book for elementary school student sharing as the humanitarian message is timely and one of the best - helping children learn, kindness, generosity, peace.

  • Listen to the Wind

Excellent book for kids to learn the impact one person can make on others. I bought it for my kids who collect pennies in their school for Dr. Greg and his efforts. The book is an excellent way to explain to them about his efforts.
